Welcome to Sakura Season(ing) — a recipe blog where comfort food meets creativity, and leftovers turn into little moments of magic.

I’m Nicole, a home cook and flavor chaser who believes cooking doesn’t need to be complicated to be nourishing. This site was born from a love of seasonal inspiration, playful kitchen experiments, and making the most of what’s already in the fridge.

It also comes from a deep-seated need to ask “what if?” in the kitchen. I’ve been cooking since childhood—starting with microwave grilled cheese, then graduating to pancakes, eggs, and eventually macaroni and cheese. My sister and I spent countless hours in the kitchen with our grandmother, helping, experimenting, and yes—being a little chaotic in the best way.

From making cracker pizzas at sleepovers (Ritz, peanut butter, frozen fruit, and shredded cheese), to microwave marshmallow disasters, to discovering that chicken goes surprisingly well with cloves—I’ve done a little of everything, and I’m still learning every day.

These days, I’m especially focused on learning to adapt the recipes I love into something more accessible—so those with dietary restrictions can enjoy them too. I’ve grown up with food sensitivities and still struggle with acid-related and FODMAP challenges, especially with lactose and fructose. That’s why many of the recipes here are crafted with gentle substitutions and thoughtful tweaks.

Whether you’re here for something sweet and nostalgic, or a savory remix that makes last night’s dinner feel brand new, I’m so glad you stopped by.
